Our founder’s journey with EMR-TEK began at just three years old, when he was diagnosed with vitiligo, an autoimmune condition that causes patches of skin to lose their natural pigment. Vitiligo often changes the way people experience daily life, as seen in public figures like Michael Jackson.

Initially, conventional treatments focused on avoiding sunlight, applying sunscreen, and using steroid creams on the affected areas. This approach was both stressful and ineffective, so his family began searching for alternatives.

At age nine, with vitiligo spreading, he traveled from Canada to Germany to consult Dr. Karin Schallreuter at the Institute for Pigmentary Disorders. Dr. Schallreuter had pioneered the use of pseudocatalase cream in combination with narrowband UVB light therapy. This innovative approach aimed to reduce hydrogen peroxide levels in the skin, which can damage the cells that produce melanin.

Equipped with a narrowband UVB lamp at home, he carefully followed Dr. Schallreuter’s regimen, applying the cream and undergoing daily UVB light sessions. The result was life-changing: he achieved nearly complete repigmentation, with only a few spots remaining on his hands and feet. This outcome not only improved his skin but also ignited his passion for the potential of light therapy.

Driven by this personal experience, Kris founded EMR-TEK to make light therapy and holistic wellness solutions accessible. His products are designed to support well-being at home, combining innovation with a commitment to quality and care.
