Redness and reactivity usually show up when the skin barrier is under strain. The barrier is the outermost layer, and when it's compromised the skin loses water faster, reacts to more things, and the small blood vessels underneath become more visible. This sheet mask is formulated to support that barrier. The ETERNO's yellow light is studied for its interaction with the layer beneath it.
What's on the sheet
Soothing — Centella asiatica, calendula and allantoin. Three of the most-studied ingredients in cosmetic research for skin that feels irritated, chosen for how they behave on a barrier that's already stressed.
Hydration — Sodium hyaluronate, the salt form of hyaluronic acid, a humectant that holds water at the surface. Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and aloe alongside it.
Barrier support — Beta-glucan, a polysaccharide studied for its role in supporting the skin's own moisture barrier.
Luminosity — Pearl extract, a traditional Korean cosmetic ingredient made up of conchiolin proteins and minerals, used for the look of luminosity.
Antioxidants — Purslane and green tea (EGCG), at the point where oxidative stress adds to the strain.
Tea tree leaf oil provides the scent and sits high on the list, so patch test if tea tree has bothered you before.
What the light adds
580nm yellow light doesn't travel as deep as red. It sits in the range absorbed by oxyhemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in blood, which is why yellow is studied for its interaction with the superficial vascular layer, the small vessels just under the surface. If you've read about yellow or amber light and the appearance of redness, this is the mechanism those studies examine.
The sheet mask works on the barrier. The light is studied for the layer beneath it.
How to use
Cleanse and tone. Unfold the sheet mask and apply. Leave on for 15–20 minutes, remove, and pat the remaining essence in. Put on the ETERNO, select the yellow setting, and run a session; the ETERNO hovers about 3mm off the skin, so it sits comfortably over freshly applied essence.
